The position reports to the Group Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for all financial

reporting for the Bermuda jurisdiction. The incumbent will also work with the Group CFO

and Bermuda business line heads and controllers to produce budgets, forecasts, variance

analysis and management reporting. Scope includes preparation of US GAAP financial

statements, regulatory reporting and segment management reporting for the Bermuda

jurisdiction as well as Finance functional support for Group projects.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

• Reviewing and signing off on financial statements and note disclosures of the Bermuda operating

companies in compliance with Group accounting policies under US GAAP

• Overseeing the monthly, quarterly and annual Bermuda close processes and related financial variance

reports, annual budgets, and financial forecasts for the Bermuda jurisdiction, business segments and

support units

• Leading the annual audit and quarterly review processes and acting as the primary point of contact

with the audit firm for the Bermuda audit

• Interacting with business heads and other Finance employees across the Group to facilitate clear

dialogue regarding the Bermuda jurisdiction’s financial results

• Reviewing and signing off on standard Group reports pertaining to the Bermuda jurisdiction including

yield reports, detailed investment and loan income reports, detailed deposit reports, etc;

• Ensuring the department’s procedures provide for strong controls over the production of the

Bermuda financial statements in accordance with risk governance standards and SOX

• Maintaining the General Ledger for Bermuda

• Monitoring expenses and providing variance analyses and recommendations for savings

and efficiencies

• Overseeing the financial control the Group’s holding company and ensuring the allocation of Group

holding company expenses to other jurisdictions;

• Reviewing regulatory return submissions to the Bermuda Monetary Authority and other regulatory

agencies. Resolving any follow-up queries as required

• Reviewing Bermuda reconciliations to ensure reconciling items are properly monitored and

accounted for

• Overseeing, managing and providing leadership to the Bermuda accounting team in Bermuda

and the related service centres

• Participating in the Bermuda Asset-Liability Committee and other management committees

as required

• Drafting presentations and ad-hoc analysis as directed by the Group CFO

• Assisting the Group CFO with other assignments from time to time

 

Your qualifications and skills include:

 

• University Degree in accounting/business with a professional accounting qualification plus a minimum

of 10 years’ relevant experience and at least 5 years’ experience as a controller or higher level in an

international banking institution

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise

• High ethical standards, and the ability to build trusting relationships

• Strong management, communication and mediation skills

• Must be a self-starter, results-oriented and customer service-focused

• Efficient time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines including working outside of

normal hours and on weekends and statutory holidays as required

• Ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information with absolute discretion

• Strong understanding of accounting, banking and treasury products and software

• Extensive knowledge of advanced General Ledger systems

• Knowledge of FCUBS (loans and deposit modules) would be an asset
