UKRI Audit, Risk, Assurance and Performance Committee (ARAPC) Member

UK Research & Innovation brings together the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK and Research England, with an annual budget of £8bn, to work across the UK with universities, research organisations, businesses, charities and government to explore and create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish.

The UKRI Audit, Risk, Assurance & Performance Committee supports the Board and Accounting Officer by reviewing the comprehensiveness and reliability of assurances on governance, risk management, the control environment, performance information and the integrity of financial statements. The ARAPC provides oversight and independent challenge regarding the development and implementation of policies and processes developed by UKRI.

UKRI ARAPC is now seeking four new members. Ideal candidates will come from a diverse range of backgrounds, disciplines and experience, reflecting the breadth of UKRI’s activities, and bring diversity of thought and fresh perspectives including from emerging industries, established and start-up commerce, higher education and research, the third sector and public service.

UKRI is particularly seeking candidates with experience of some or all of:

  • Finance, accounting and audit
  • Internal controls, including fraud and internal audit
  • Risk management, including non-financial risks
  • Technology risk and assurance, including cyber
  • Information governance
  • ESG
  • Ethics & compliance

All members of the committee will be expected to probe intelligently and challenge constructively to ensure that high ethical standards are met and assure the integrity of UKRI’s vision. Good communication and interpersonal skills, both in person and across virtual platforms, are essential.

This is a part time role, on an honoraria basis, with 4 formal meetings and several deep dives across the year, requiring 10 days pa.
