Job Description

Tax Assistant Manager, In-House - fintech banking

£60-70,000 + bonuses & benefits

Are you ACA/CTA/CPA qualified with demonstrable experience in tax compliance & advisory?

Interested to diversify your tax skills into additional domains, beyond direct/indirect alone?

Interested in the financial services, but might fit better into a start-up/fintech culture?

This is an established banking fintech organisation, which is expanding rapidly and showing no sign of slowing down. This is a fast-paced and autonomy-driven business, where employees hold ownership over their function and full responsibility for end-to-end processes. This is not the type of organisation where an argument will be presented without a great deal of forethought and data-driven evidence, a game for real thinkers. To fit in here, you'll be data-driven, craving continual learning and development and not be averse to rolling up your sleeves to get stuck into details/regulations you may not have encountered before.

Your role: The Tax Assistant Manager, In-House - fintech banking

Your remit will be broad and encompass diverse responsibilities and areas of taxation. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Oversight and review of tax returns prepared by external advisory bodies
  • Corresponding with HMRC on enquiries for completed computations
  • Assisting the Tax Director in managing local and international VAT processes, including compliance
  • Ad-hoc advisory for accounts payable and finance stakeholders
  • Involvement in UK compliance initiatives, including R&D claims and CA reviews
  • Involvement in transfer pricing with regards to preparation of documentation, policy execution and intercompany agreements
  • Assisting in preparations of documents necessary for smooth taxation audit
  • Tax accounting around fiscal deadline requirements
  • Monitoring and advising on the impact of legislation adaptions for banking and technological developments
  • Employment tax compliance
  • Coordination of outsourced US, state and local filings.
  • In this small tax team, ad-hoc work with the Head of Tax and involvement in expansions into new jurisdictions, monitoring TP developments and ensuring compliance with regulatory adaptions

What you will need to succeed

  • ACA/CTA/CPA qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience in a tax function, either in the professional practice or in-house environment
  • Broad taxation exposure is a bonus, but the desire to diversify your tax specialism into new domains is essential
  • Strong organisational, communication and attention to detail. Able to operate in a structured and collegiate manner in a fast-paced and frenetic environment.
