Job Description

Strategic Finance roles at HMRC

Why Choose HMRC?
HMRC is the UK's tax, payments and customs authority and they have a vital purpose: they collect the money that pays for the UK's public services and help families and individuals with targeted financial support. With targets increasing every year, expectations from customers rising and the financial constraints the department is under they need to make changes. For the Finance Function this means they have a really exciting but big transformation journey ahead of them and gives them a great opportunity to look at the way they do things and make them better!

The Roles
There are multiple roles available in Strategic Finance covering areas such as in-year reporting, business planning, efficiency reporting and work force planning. You will join one of these strands and be part of a team which fulfils a key role at the heart of HMRC. You will work right across HMRC and with other Government departments, to support the delivery of their strategic objectives. The teams are responsible for ensuring that HMRC plans and manages its performance, makes good decisions and is held to account on accurate financial and performance data. Your goal is to support our ambition for Finance to be at the heart of decision making across HMRC.

Your Profile
To deliver the best results for HMRC, you will need to demonstrate that you have developed some strategic thinking skills at a high level. We are looking for driven and ambitious, qualified or part qualified candidates who are comfortable challenging senior level stakeholders. You will be inquisitive, proactive and happy to work both independently as well as part of a team. Strong excel skills are essential for all of these roles (this will be tested at interview) and experience in SAP would be beneficial but not essential. We are interested in hearing from candidates from all sector backgrounds including public practice, commercial, the wider public sector and not for profit organisations. You must demonstrate an interest in working with a high profile Government department.

What HMRC Offer
As well as a generous salary and pension scheme. HMRC prides itself on training and development opportunities both within HMRC and across the wider civil service. You will be working in a fast paced and demanding environment that will support your longer-term career prospects. Flexible working is also available.
