Senior VAT Accountant

Your new role
Responsible for ensuring that EMEA VAT liabilities are filed accurately and on time, whilst also managing the VAT angle of new business opportunities.
Having line management for a small team of two VAT accountants, you will also be responsible for driving process improvement throughout the team & advising the business with VAT queries related to current and future operations.
Ownership of process for the preparation, review and submission of all VAT returns and associated reports, for all EMEA VAT registered group companies in compliance with the relevant regulations.
Hosting regular workshops and in-house training courses to ensure internal stakeholders have a good understanding of industry VAT rules and regulations.
Responsible for the review of the VAT balance sheet accounts; their preparation, accuracy and query resolution on a monthly basis as part of the management accounts process.
Responsibility for ensuring any changes in the business are understood and the appropriate actions planned and taken to ensure proper VAT reporting and compliance.
Line management of two reports
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all VAT stakeholders (including Traders, Operations team, Sales & Purchase Ledger teams)
Development and implementation of continuous improvement plan to drive increased quality, efficiency and exceed customer expectations.
What you'll need to succeed
Qualified / Part-Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CTA).
Previous experience of UK and European VAT
Be a strong communicator and possess an ability to develop trusting and credible relationships at all levels of the business and across various teams.
Strong balance sheet reconciliation skills
Able to analyse and interpret significant quantities of financial data and relate back to business issues.
Be flexible and adaptable, understand the overall goals of the company and actively seek to help achieve them.
Possesses and demonstrates real analytical skill, and can apply a logical approach to new challenges.
MS Excel - advanced level, to be able to create spreadsheets and formulas.
