With a new Finance Director, the Finance Team are leading a transformation programme to better deliver finances and maximise value to the business.

Your new role

The Northern Ireland Office is seeking to recruit a Senior Finance Manager to manage the financial management team. With a new Finance Director, the Finance Team are leading a transformation programme to better deliver our finances and maximise value to the business.

This role will be at the heart of this programme, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of the review, design and implementation of new financial management controls, partnering with teams across the business to support the delivery of our financial objectives.

The successful candidate will deliver financial planning and analysis, budgeting, monitoring and reporting; and partner with teams across the business to bring insight and control to financial delivery. The role will have the opportunity to support the Department's commercial pipeline and help us achieve value for money through our procurements.

This role will liaise closely with key internal and external stakeholders, including Ministerial teams, budget holders and teams across the business, internal and external auditors, and HM Treasury.
The post is based within Corporate Operations Group in the Northern Ireland Office, a diverse and high performing that provides high standards of corporate services to support the delivery of the NIO's objectives and deliver Ministerial priorities

The key duties are as follows:

Deliver finance business partnering with teams across the business, building strong working relationships to support deeper financial insight and control.

Deliver the annual financial management lifecycle, supporting strategic financial planning, budget setting, variance analysis and investigation, and monthly Board reporting.

Support change programmes such as finance transformation and contribute to the review of financial policies, procedures and controls.

Engage with a wide range of high profile stakeholders, internal and external, to support critical finance processes and implement best practice, for example the Senior Leadership Team, the Board, HM Treasury, and internal and external auditors.

Provide finance project support to high priority projects across the Department, to ensure they are run in a financially sound, rigorous way.

Support teams in the business to deliver procurements and commercial business cases in order to achieve best value for money.




What you'll need to succeed



ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  1. Full CCAB qualified accountant
  1. Experience of reviewing or delivering financial management, budgets or business partnering arrangements
  1. Experience of design & implementation of new financial policies, procedures and controls

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  1. Ability to take initiative and experience of delivering to a high standard against multiple competing priorities in a fast paced environment
  1. Highly numerate with strong financial analysis skills
  1. Experience of building positive and effective working relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
