Job Description

Are you an experienced Finance Director who is looking for a part time position with an award winning and high profile firm of architects / structural & civil engineering practice? Are you looking for a role which starts in June / July? Are you looking for flexible working hours, working 2 to 3 days a week? Are you looking for a newly created role, where you will work directly with, and advise the owners of the business on a number of important strategic decisions in a project based role? Are you looking to work for a medium sized, growing and very profitable business (with around 100 staff) that has a great reputation and is growing at a steady pace? Your overall aim is to manage the finance function, ensure all accounting and regulatory duties are carried out on time and to a high standard, and assisting the owners and Board with key strategic decision making. Specific responsibilities include: overseeing the annual budget, ensure all financial practices comply with all statutory and legal obligations, assisting the owners with long term strategic decisions, assessing and making changes to corporate structure, projects based assignments, monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions, staff supervision (finance manager and more junior staff who carry out the day to day accounting transactions), oversee the preparation of financial reports, improve systems, processes and procedures to minimise financial risk, maintain and implement financial policies and procedures, board minutes, keeping a record of all payments to directors, assist with the firms property development strategy and ensuring all transactions are recorded and setting and maintaining the firms tax strategy for the business and property developments. Your role will be varied and the majority of your role will involve numerous projects and assisting with long term strategic decision making.

To be considered for this newly created role you must be an ACA qualified Finance Director who is looking to work part time, 2 or 3 days a week (flexible). You MUST have experience of working for a firm of architects or a professional services firm in the construction sector. It is likely you will have around 7 years (or more) post qualification experience. You must have a track record of dealing with complex financial issues and possess excellent spreadsheet skills and used these to design complex forecasting models. You must be looking for a more project based and advisory / strategic position, as most of the day to day finance function is successfully carried out by the Finance Manager and junior staff. You must be a team player, results driven and have a track record of success.

This growing and profitable structural and civil engineering practice based in a prime location in Central London is undergoing a number of internal changes to improve efficiency and further improve profitability. Due to these internal changes plus purchase of several new premises, they need some high level internal assistance with these particular strategic aspects of the business. It would be beneficial if you had some experience of property development and changes to corporate structures. Overall this is a great opportunity for an experienced Finance Director to work in a part time role for a growing, profitable medium sized firm of Structural & Civil Engineers, working in a corporate project based role and contribute greatly to the firms overall strategic goals and long term success.
