Your new role
As the Rural Manager you will take responsibility for the delivery of services such as accounts, taxation, tax planning, bookkeeping, management accounts and payroll to a range of clients within the Rural sector and related industries.

Key task include:

Strategic

  • Setting budgets and targets across the department, and assisting with the sector business plan
  • Identification and delivery of added value services to your client portfolio
  • Promoting the Department both within the organisation and externally (Networking)
  • Setting prices/fee levels

Cultural

  • Leadership of the team
  • Embedding the values and behaviours, and being a champion of the business culture
  • Monitoring and managing communications with clients and internal team members
  • Staff development, including appraisals

Operational

  • Approving delivery of services to clients
  • Meeting potential new clients/selling services and agreeing new quotes
  • Monitoring financial and non-financial KPI's and seeking to improve on them
  • Managing client expectations
  • Monitoring quality control, standardisation and making improvements
  • Trouble shooting
  • Dealing with technical matters beyond the remit of your team
  • Review of accounts for Limited companies and LLP's
  • Review of corporate tax returns, LLP returns and personal tax returns
  • Tax Planning - Corporate and Personal
  • Setting team objectives alongside the Head of Rural and being accountable for meeting these objectives

Support

  • Billing, credit control and general client management
  • Dealing with some general office admin, emails and time sheets
  • Taking ownership for the departments results and reviewing the profit & loss for the department
  • Work planning for the team, and liaising with other managers
  • Occasionally having more involvement in the preparation of tax computations


What you'll need to succeed

  • A self-motivated, ambitious individual who wants to progress
  • Agricultural experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong technical knowledge coupled with a proven ability to act as a technical resource and point of first reference for other team members
  • Strong tax knowledge, and being able to explain these concepts in a jargon free way including a working knowledge of the capital taxes
  • Strong knowledge of VAT and experience of partial exemption rules
  • Strategic management experience is desirable, however operational management experience is essential
  • Extensive supervisory experience
  • An ability to review existing systems and processes and to make improvements is desirable
  • An ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing in English
  • Willingness to attend networking events as required
  • A professional qualification ACA/ACCA with extensive practice experience
