Job Description

Gemcorp Capital LLP was founded in November 2013 to take advantage of the structural retrenchment of traditional Emerging Market liquidity providers.  The firm’s investment operations began in October 2014 with the launch of Gemcorp Fund I, which invests in global macro, public credit and private credit (i.e. direct lending and trade finance) sub-strategies.  Today, the firm has $1.2bn in committed capital and employs 60+ professionals with its headquarters in London and a dedicated presence in Sao Paulo, Moscow, Johannesburg, Luanda, Dubai and Geneva.

Reporting to: Head of Fund & Corporate Accounting

Finance team structure: CFO, Head of Fund & Corporate Accounting, Management Accountant, Accounts Assistant, and Fund accountant. Accounting function outsourced to BDO.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Key day to day contact for outsourced accounting providers
  • Maintenance of all non-standard transactions during the month: co-ordinate booking with outsourced accounting providers
  • Management of month end process: ensure timely receipt of and perform first review of monthly management accounts
  • Management of financial reporting for overseas subsidiaries
  • Responsible for intercompany balance reconciliations
  • Direct management and oversight of accounts payable function; ensuring invoices are correctly coded, payments are made on a timely basis
  • Preparing variance analysis reports to explain differences between actual and budgeted operational results
  • Assistance in preparation of annual operational budgets
  • Monthly cash flow statement preparation and day to day cash monitoring
  • Assisting in the year end audit process: review of pro-forma statutory accounts, liaising with auditors
  • Preparing sales invoices – management fees, performance fees, intercompany recharges and other ad-hoc fee invoices
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Identifying and improving process improvements

Skills and experience:

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or similar), up to 2 years PQE.
  • Good academic record
  • Strong technical skills
  • Excellent communication skills are a must
  • Experience of using accounting software
  • Strong command of Excel
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic, small team
  • Ability to take ownership of and drive projects
