Job Description

This is a 6 month contract covering an internal secondment. Extensive stock and inventory experience is required for this position

Description

The main responsibilities within this position are:

  • Review, support and oversee month end finished good and WIP unit reconciliations performed by Inventory Controller and Assistant Financial Accountant
  • Oversee and review consolidated invoicing process for defined warehouses
  • Review the investigation of all material PPV postings, analysing and resolving root causes
  • Oversight of inventory provisions including calculation, compliance with Group policy and reporting
  • Prepare the Board inventory analysis slides including commentary
  • Prepare and review other cost of sales analysis for inclusion in Board slides
  • Work closely with supply chain to highlight, report and manage inventory risks
  • Monitor daily inventory transaction postings to ensure that all notified write offs and other manual adjustments are logged, posted accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Manage process for documentation and monthly reporting of, the investigation, analysis, approval and accurate posting of all stock adjustments greater than agreed thresholds (tracking spreadsheet and KPI)
  • For recurring issues ensure root cause analysis is performed and agree improvements to current processes
  • Support international finance teams as required with inventory and related processes (for example sales invoicing, orders, warehouse interfaces)
  • Key contact for external auditors and should own the audit of Group Inventory
  • Ensure that all system product prices effecting financial transactions are accurate and consistent (Warehouses, purchase orders, supplier contracts)
  • Responsibility for ensuring bill of materials for component accounted stock are accurately set up and maintained
  • Work with supply chain & sourcing to maintain price maintenance process, including controls, monitoring, and reporting activities
  • Work closely with commercial, sourcing and financial planning teams to identify of commercial risks and opportunities resulting from changes in inventory pricing. For example, low/negative margin SKUs, unapproved supplier changes in prices or management of supplier rebates

Profile

The successful candidate for this position will have:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Proven post qualification experience in a business with complex inventory processes and reconciliation requirements
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing staff
  • IFRS Financial Accounting knowledge and experience (desirable)
  • Understanding of commercial impact of inventory processes, and ability to business partner effectively to optimise these
  • Confidence in building and maintaining relationships with key members of the non-finance team
  • Technical ability to oversee and manage inventory/cost of sales financials for a business with a variety of complex trading and interco terms
  • Strong excel skills, including Vlookup, pivot tables, data manipulation and presentation at a minimum
  • Self-motivation and drive to deliver continuous improvements. Presents solutions rather than raises issues
