Job Description

Exciting varied project controller & Finance Manager/Controller role with a leading employer of choice

Your new company
I'm delighted to be working with a leading employer of choice in Chesterfield on an exclusive basis to recruit for a varying interim position within a growing finance team.

Your new role
Your role will be a split role over a c.9-10 month fixed term contract (day rate candidates will also be considered however a FTC is preferred), initially taking ownership on varying projects within the business, liaising with wider group teams to effectively deliver on these projects.
The business are continually growing, both organically and acquisitively, and these projects will be ever-evolving. You'll be working closely with the existing Financial Controller and autonomously on acquisition merging and alignment, Brexit related review projects, capitalisation reviews and some system based work.

Latterly in the contract, you'll take responsibility and oversight of the UK reporting team of c.8-10 staff, covering parental leave, overseeing reporting, statutory accounts, taxes, accounting services and the wider finance team.

This is a hugely dynamic and exciting role, well suited to an individual who enjoys the 'hands on' elements of financial management whilst also undertaking varying project based roles.

What you'll need to succeed
Due to the hugely varying dynamic of this role, it is essential that you are a qualified accountant with strong post-qualification experience. You'll ideally be from a practice background with a strong grounding in financial control, having handled varying projects and be able to 'hit the ground running'.

As a business with overseas operations, Brexit is high on the agenda for this business and as such, exposure to import/export customs requirements in relation to Brexit impact would be of benefit however is not essential to the role.

You'll be a key point of contact within the finance team, and comfortable coaching and supporting more junior members of staff whilst also 'getting your hands dirty'. You'll be comfortable with a corporate/group culture and be able to handle a varying role which changes with pace.
The role will initially be more project focused, easing into month-end processes and building up to the covering of the more structured financial management responsibility latterly in the contract.

Comfortability with varying finance systems would be beneficial (Hyperion experience would be of benefit but not essential), however strong competency with Excel is essential.
You'll be from a complex organisation structure, typically with turnover of c.£50m - £100m+.
Exposure of US reporting would also be beneficial but by no means essential to this role.
You will also be a competent people-manager, with similar team size management experience (c.8-10).

What you'll get in return
This is a fantastic organisation to work for in which you'll benefit from excellent benefits alongside a share of annual bonus commensurate to your start date.
As a growing business, they are a business who will have potential further recruitment needs as we return to normality, so success in the position may develop into further opportunity with the organisation.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (potential flexibility for an outstanding candidate) FTE, or equivalent day rate (likely initially out of scope of IR35 although this could change as the role dynamic shifts from project based work to a more structured financial management role).
Organisation preference would be as a fixed term contract for this role.
