Outstanding opportunity to work in a stand alone capacity as a Senior Tax Manager - on line leisure business.

Your new role

I'm working with an outstanding business that is currently looking to recruit an energetic Senior Tax Manager into their EMEA Finance Team, based in London. They are a group of highly motivated, high performing individuals who love numbers as much as the story behind the numbers. They have a hard-working culture, but they also know how to have fun.

The ideal candidate is always curious, embraces change and thrives in an ambiguous rapid-growth environment. He/she will also possess exceptional people and project management skills along with the ability to extract knowledge from professional advisors. He/she will be excited about the opportunity to establish best in class statutory reporting and tax processes to support a fast-paced business.

This will be an evolving and hands-on role, working closely alongside and reporting to the Director, Accounting. Initially, key responsibilities will be to:

  • Leverage professional advisors to develop a deep understanding of applicable EMEA tax legislation; apply this knowledge to prepare/review calculations and document memos to ensure compliance. Applicable tax legislation includes but is not limited to corporation income tax; indirect taxes (e.g. VAT, WHT, digital service tax) and; regulatory reporting (e.g. French platform reporting, MDR/DAC 6 and CbCR).
  • Lead the EMEA transfer pricing review, leveraging professional advisors and working alongside Group Tax (based in the US).
  • Prepare the EMEA transfer pricing entries, digital service tax estimates and corporation income tax estimates for the monthly accounting close.
  • Prepare the effective tax rate forecasts (including transfer pricing, digital service tax estimates and corporation income tax estimates) for the bi-quarterly forecasting cycle.
  • Prepare the tax provision to return reconciliations, scrutinizing the detail behind the statutory reporting adjustments and timing differences between the US GAAP accounting close, statutory accounts and tax returns.
  • Develop a deep business awareness to explain the story behind the tax numbers, including the transfer pricing relationships and revenue models/transaction flows.
  • Manage the tax advisory engagement budget, ensuring all ad hoc fees are approved and overruns are not incurred.
  • Establish best in class tax processes with a focus on efficiency, accuracy and compliance.
  • Ad hoc projects.

What you'll need to succeed

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to digest complex digital revenue models and transaction flows as well as the value chains of two distinct organizations.
  • Be highly accountable with the ability to coordinate and deliver projects through the use of multiple external advisors and colleagues.
  • Be highly organized with the ability to deliver multiple concurrent projects to strict deadlines whilst providing visibility on progress and issues to Directors.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize technical information (including complex tax regulations) for a senior finance audience.
  • Be able to translate compliance requirements into actionable tasks and checklists for an accounting and wider business audience.
  • Be curious and hands-on, equally at ease in the detail and looking at the big picture.
  • Be a solution-focused team player with the ability to influence and project manage colleagues.
  • Embrace change and strive to continuously improve the way we work and collaborate with each other within finance and the wider business.
  • Excel in an ambiguous, rapid change environment with multiple stakeholders and continuously evolving responsibilities.

Required Experience

  • ACA/ACCA/CA/CTA qualified with a minimum 6 years of post qualified experience.
  • Big 4 or Top 6 practice trained with industry (in-house) experience. Big 4 manager experience in audit is preferred.
  • Broad awareness of corporation income tax, transfer pricing, tax regulations (e.g. Digital Service Tax, French Platform Reporting, DAC 6/MDR) and/or exposure to these in a financial reporting/audit capacity.
  • Experience coordinating and leveraging top tier tax and/or other professional service advisors in multiple jurisdictions, EMEA is preferred.
  • Experience reviewing statutory financial statements from a tax risk perspective and preparation of tax provision to return reconciliations.
  • Experience coordinating and leveraging remote teams and colleagues to deliver projects.
