The Financial Reporting Council (FRC)’s mission is to serve the public interest by setting high standards of corporate governance, reporting and audit and holding to account those responsible for delivering them. We are] [is] the UK Competent Authority for audit. We also set the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes as well as UK standards for accounting, auditing and actuarial work, and monitor and take action to promote the quality of corporate reporting and operate independent enforcement arrangements for accountants and actuaries. The FRC’s Regulatory Standards Division is responsible for public and technical policy covering accountancy, audit, actuarial work and corporate governance and stewardship, for which we set regulatory codes and standards and develop guidance to drive high quality work in the public interest. The Division also includes the FRC Lab, which encourages high quality reporting through the development of best practice, and innovation more widely, and all of the FRC’s stakeholder engagement and communications work.
The Head of Innovation and Digital is a member of the Financial Reporting Lab team. The role focuses on helping the FRC deliver on its objective of contributing to the improvement of UK corporate reporting through innovation and furthering the opportunities of digital communication. The role focuses on encouraging innovation in corporate reporting and the development of regulatory standards by engaging in a practical way with the wider investment community, preparers and other stakeholders in the standard setting process.
The successful candidate will either be a CCAB qualified accountant or have strong experience and good knowledge of UK corporate reporting requirements. They should also understand the investment process and the use of corporate reporting by investors and analysts, and the commercial, regulatory and other external influences on the Lab team’s work. Good knowledge of technologies used in corporate reporting is desirable.
The role is based in our Central London Office. The post holder should be able to work flexibly to support the team’s activities and also provide cover within the FRC as necessary.
