My client is a not-for-profit organisation based in the Borough of Hartlepool who are now seeking a Head of Finance to join their dynamic team on a permanent basis. Reporting into the CEO, this role is responsible for all things finance and holds a vital position on the Senior Management Team. Through the provision of financial support and advice, you will enable them to deliver financial targets and continue on their current growth trajectory.

The key duties of this Head of Finance role are as follows:

  • Take the lead on the day-to-day management of the finance department, ensuring that all financial activities are being conducted accurately.
  • Full responsibility for producing the monthly management accounts and the board packs for presentation to the rest of the Senior Management Team.
  • Business partner with all department heads, helping them to produce and manage their budgets.
  • Manage a small team of finance professionals, providing any training as required and giving them opportunities to grow and develop.
  • Liaise with the external auditors at year end, acting as the key contact for any queries.
  • Preparing VAT returns on a quarterly basis and have full oversight of the charity’s payroll process.
  • Be at the forefront of generating and implementing process improvements to boost the team’s working efficiency.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A full accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a role of a similar capacity.
  • Experience managing a developing a small team of finance professionals.
  • Ideally, a background working in the charity sector. However, candidates without this will still be considered.
  • Evidence of delivering successful process improvements.
  • Strong communication skills.
