Michael Page Finance are pleased to be supporting a national charity in the appointment of a Group Financial Accountant in to their growing financial accounting team.

This position will support the Head of Financial Accounting in the preparation of financial statements, year end, statutory accounting and VAT returns.


  • Prepare the reports and financial information for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review of balance sheet reconciliations across group companies
  • Prepare monthly Group consolidations
  • Prepare of the statutory year end accounts across the Group companies
  • Work with our auditors as and when required
  • Drive continuous improvements in the department's processes and procedure including identifying opportunities to streamline and automate existing administrative procedures and tasks.
  • Responsible for ensuring the financial implications of all new policies and procedures commensurate with the role are correctly interpreted and implemented, using highly developed specialist knowledge and experience thereby minimising financial risk to the organisation. Identifying and developing new procedures when required.
  • Ensure that all financial software systems have strong internal control as a key element, are pro-actively managed and that the department has the capacity and objective of developing capability in this area.
  • Develop a 'learning culture' within the team, supporting individual development and encouraging cross-cover and cross-learning across the teams.
  • Fully engage with the business to ensure that the Finance Department is able to provide good customer service that is responsive to the needs of the business.
  • Represent finance on required internal review forums and to represent the organisation on external bodies as required.


  • Qualified Accountant - both newly qualified accountants and those with post qualification experience are welcome to apply.
  • Sector experience - experience auditing or working in a charity would be beneficial, but not a deal breaker.
  • Experience of preparing final accounts across a group of organisations
  • Experience of external financial reporting
  • Staff management experience within a customer focused environment
  • Experience working with, and improving systems and processes
  • High financial awareness, with the ability to communicate complex financial management information in a straight forward way
  • Experience of liaising pro-actively with external advisors notably external and internal auditors
  • Ability both to identify required process improvements and to design and implement those improvements
  • Identify and prioritise complex, time sensitive workload and projects
  • Excellent communications skills, both orally and in writing
