Job Description

The position offers considerable responsibility for a wide range of duties and exposure to a variety of issues, acting as a key support to the Head of Finance, and interacting with senior management throughout the organisation.

The role will suit someone ambitious and keen to work hard to drive real change in a small team entrepreneurial environment, whilst growing their career.

The ideal candidate will be Big 4 trained and have post qualification experience in a Natural Resources business looking at Group Accounts.

You will have significant and varied accounting experience in a corporate environment with the ability to take responsibility for monthly internal reporting processes for a number of entities and deliver timely, insightful management information reliably.

A strong background in IFRS accounting preferably with experience in the sector and you will need to be comfortable solving complex accounting matters independently and providing leadership on such issues within the head office finance team and to overseas operations.

You will need to build effective relationships with and influence senior finance managers and executives, lead external interactions on audits and with other professional advisors and be able to manage and motivate the head office finance team: oversee day to day duties, and ensure overall head office finance objectives are met effectively.

* Group reporting oversight of main operating business:
o Enforce timetable, data integrity.
o Interrogate accounting issues. Provide accounting advice and solutions where needed.
o Provide group level analysis, insight on overall financial reporting trends and issues.
o Involvement in external bondholder reporting.
* Full responsibility for financial matters for entities:
o Provide timely, high quality internal reporting for head office and business development entities in accordance with group timetable. Oversee routine management accounting activity and provide leadership on complex accounting matters. Develop accounting skills of more junior staff.
o Lead statutory accounting, audit and tax compliance activities, including all relationships with auditors and advisors, to deliver IFRS statutory accounts and tax returns in line with timetables.
o Oversee head office accounts payable and cash accounting.
* Lead development of group finance processes and key accounting projects; e.g. group reporting tools and analytics, intercompany process, foreign currency accounting.
* Provide other ad-hoc support to the Head of Finance and the senior management team.
