Hays Senior Finance is delighted to bring to market an excellent job opportunity as Group Compliance Manager for Stagecoach Group plc. Working in a pivotal position for one of the UK's most recognisable PLC's, this role is tasked with ensuring the legal and ethical integrity of the business. Your new role

Reporting to the Company Secretary, you'll help promote a culture of openness and integrity through policy development, communication, training and enforcement. You will chair the Group's Compliance Committee and be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effectiveness of the Group's compliance programme. You will continue on the journey to transform the way the business deals with compliance - implementing a new code of conduct and an anonymous reporting platform, which underpins the "Speak Up" whistleblowing policy. You'll keep the Stagecoach business up to date with changing legislation, regulations and importantly best-in-class approaches to compliance.

You will be part of the senior team, presenting to the Board and its Committees on key compliance matters, so you will be an individual who can investigate thoroughly, challenge robustly, get to the heart of the matter and then tell it straight to the top of the organisation! You'll have ownership of the compliance training programme - designing course content, identifying target audiences, tracking completion rates…all to raise awareness and understanding across all Stagecoach businesses. Your role will include conducting policy document reviews and drafting new Group policies as required. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the Group's departments including Legal, Finance, People, Technology, Procurement and Business Development to identify and mitigate key risks.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience of compliance - either within a designated compliance function, or as part of a wider in-house legal, audit, or risk management department. Your experience will have likely been developed in a large, complex organisation such as a listed company or major public sector body / third sector organisation. Your stakeholder management skills will be second to none, as will your communication and influencing skills. You will be confident working across the full spectrum of the business, from executive level to operational stakeholders.

A strong communicator, you'll be able to build great relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You'll be a proven self-starter, using your knowledge and experience to help Stagecoach Group improve its compliance culture. Working on your own initiative, you'll know what the business needs to achieve and will build the relationships you need throughout the organisation to fulfil these objectives. Stagecoach Group plc is headquartered in Perth, Scotland, with a Shared Service Centre in Stockport and operations locations across Great Britain. The senior team is based in Perth and you will need to spend some time in the Perth office. You will also need to travel to other parts of the business when needed. The last year has demonstrated that with video conferencing and other technology we can be more flexible on where you are based.
