As Maven continues to grow in scale and complexity, we have identified the need for a qualified accountant to manage group financial reporting. The core responsibilities of this role will be statutory financial reporting for UK and Jersey entities, including the consolidated group accounts. You will manage accounting policies for complex and high-risk areas, and be the subject matter expert within the EMEA Finance Team for IFRS and GAAP requirements. You will also work alongside the tax team helping them to extract and interpret finance data, and prepare quarterly FCA returns.

Only 40-50% of the role is expected to be taken up by financial reporting. The other 50-60% will cover balance sheet control, project management of the annual audit process and other projects. This is a good role for someone looking to make their first move into industry, and you will have a wide exposure to different sections of the finance team.

What you're going to do:

  • Produce statutory financial statements for UK and Jersey group entities (including consolidated group accounts)  
  • Maintain accounting policies and notes for complex and high risk transactions  
  • Keep up to date with developments in IFRS  
  • Completion of quarterly FCA returns and semi-annual FINREP return  
  • Identify and implement improvements within existing processes  
  • Project management of annual audit process  
  • Perform and/or review balance sheet reconciliations for subset of legal entities  
  • Ad hoc project work as required  

Who will you be working with:

  • Senior Management – drafting statutory reports with key stakeholders 
  • Finance Team – advising team on developments with IFRS and how to account for key transactions 
  • Corporate Governance – working with corporate governance team on statutory disclosures 
  • Compliance – working alongside compliance team on regulatory reports 

What you need to have:

  • Experience preparing financial statements essential 
  • ACA, CIMA or ACCA
  • Exposure to financial services through practice or industry background essential 
  • Exposure to regulatory reporting desirable 
  • Strong level of proficiency in MS Excel
  • Good understanding of existing IFRS requirements and ability to analyse and interpret other reporting frameworks
