£55,000 - £65,000
We are currently working with an established £5M t/o family run business near St Albans embarking on the next chapter of their growth and development through product and revenue stream diversification. In preparation for this exciting phase in the company's history the business would like to appoint a seasoned and 'hands on' finance professional to work alongside the Managing Director to provide both financial and commercial insight / counsel.
The role will cover the finance function in its entirety with one direct report who current undertakes book-keeping duties before handing over to external accountants. As such it is envisaged that the successful candidate with have previous experience in an end-to-end finance role working within an SME environment, maybe with a broad remit to include, Finance, IT, HR and dealing with suppliers and external advisors / banks etc.
Key Duties on the Agenda will be;
*Review current outdated financial and operational systems.
*The implementation of an integrated ERP system to enable the business to provide accurate and timely management reporting - management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, margin analysis by product, cash flow models etc….
*Work with the Managing Director and Operations Director to develop reporting systems that meet the growing needs of the business.
*Actively work on developing future business models including the appraisal of investment decisions and new product ventures.
*Ensure the smooth running of the day to day financial operations including - transaction processing (AP & AR), payroll, treasury (including FX), VAT, statutory reporting etc…
*Review of stock management including - systems, controls, reporting, reconciliation and accounting.
What we are looking for;
*An experienced Finance professional with a track record of producing value added financial support within an SME environment.
*A 'hands on' operator who is happy to both do the day to day accounting whilst also being involved in more strategic and operational matters.
*A flexible attitude comfortable working within a small company environment where it is often required to cover numerous roles and undertake a variety of tasks outside core finance.
*A proven track record of reviewing and implementing new systems to meet the growing needs within a growing business, within a budget!
*The role could suit someone looking to take a step back from a larger role and reduced hours may be considered i.e. 4 days a week or flexible hours that grow with the business. Home working is not being considered at this stage due to the hands on and operational nature of the role.
*Ideally you will have experience within a retail, product sales, stock, distribution, on-line, margin type business rather than financial services or business services.
*Must have experience of implementing an SME type ERP system and developing Management Information (MI) packs from scratch.
