Your new role
The Financial Controller will be responsible for conducting financial analysis and business performance reviews on an ongoing basis, to co-ordinate and support the preparation of budgets, to prepare and review investment proposals and to fulfill ad-hoc and special group related reporting requirements. You will report into the European Finance Director and lead a small team and be the number one Finance person on site in Birmingham.
Key duties will include:
Management oversight of all aspects of the finance function (AR/AP/VAT/Fixed Assets/General Ledger/Job costing/Customer Profitability Analysis/IFRS compliance/Cost Centre management, Budgeting & Productivity reporting.)
Responsible for accurately reporting the profitability of the business on a monthly basis with re-forecasts quarterly.
As Business Partner, provide financial support, reporting and guidance to the senior management team (and the rest of the business).
Supervise and develop the reporting and monitoring of departmental spending including activity based costing drivers.
Maintaining and upgrading the internal control and Risk Management systems of control
Supporting the development of the annual business plan & budgetary cycle.
Leadership and development of finance staff
Month end closing of management accounts and reporting both to local management and at group level.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Accountant who has several years post Qualified experience. A good working knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP system is desirable. Previous experience working in a hands on Controller role and supporting a small team is essential. The role is a strong mix of technical work but we are also looking for someone who has excellent commercial acumen and the ability to work internally and externally with customers. Previous knowledge working within logistics, distribution or manufacturing is essential. Knowledge of working with contracts and supporting external customers is also highly desirable.
