Financial Controller - Charity Sector - Doncaster c.£50,000 per annum + excellent benefits

I'm delighted to be partnering with a leading charity based in Doncaster who are seeking to appoint a Financial Controller into a small finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Director.
The charity are a well established organisation in South Yorkshire, with strong pedigree in their specific sector.
Your new role
This role is a genuine opportunity to shape your own position in a well-rounded Controller role. The current Finance Director is in process of modernising reporting practices within the organisation, and your appointment to this position will be a key driver in this process.
You will take responsibility for the line management of 3 existing transactional staff members, whilst taking the reigns on the implementation of new systems and procedures relating to the management accounts processes, spearheading the transition to monthly reporting. Once implemented, you will take responsibility for the completion of these monthly accounts, alongside the statutory reporting requirements for the organisation.
This will be a hugely wide ranging position, requiring you to be very 'hands on'. Your role will vary on a daily basis where you may be posting a journal one minute, and the next liaising with auditors. Your responsibilities will include monthly reconciliations, internal controls review, cash forecasting, year end reports, VAT, HMRC obligations etc.
This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied, challenging role. It would be a great role for an individual who is seeking a progressive, more senior position with a view to using the role as a springboard onto more senior roles in the future.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a fully qualified accountant, and due to the sector, ideally with experience in Charity or Education sectors.
You will have strong Excel skills, and it would be desirable that you have previously used Sage.
Due to the variety of the role, you will have strong all round finance experience, particularly from the statutory reporting perspective. Strong business partnering skills will also be of benefit where you can effectively liaise and work with various stakeholders within the organisation.
Operational Expenditure from a payroll perspective is a significant proportion of overall expenditure, and therefore previous experience of managing a similar environment would be of benefit.
