Job Description

As a Financial Accountant, you will work within a strong team to maintain the effectiveness and timeliness of all accounting procedures and the accuracy of completed financials on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.

You will report into the Head of Financial Accounting and work closely with senior members of the business partner team, controlling high value accounts and transactions, and ensuring that the accounting for our £500m turnover business runs smoothly and effectively.  You will also work with the global Arcadis accounting team – with involvement in important global projects and updates. You will be a key contact for our external auditors – explaining the results and responding to their queries, as well as directing other team members to collate required evidence.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Enable high quality accounting and control environment
  • Review monthly and Q/E accounts
  • Work with ANV Corporate to reolve issues and clear Q/E accounts
  • Support to ensure sign-off from external audit team at half-year and year-end
  • Involvement in production of statutory accounts
  • Prepare and review Balance Sheet reconciliations, including time-payroll, ensuring no surprises
  • Review VAT and PAYE returns and issues supported by tax team
  • Assist in preparation of CT returns liaising with external advisers and tax team
  • Assist in Free Cash Flow analysis
  • Act as technical expert in key areas
  • Deliver specific internal projects


  • Fully qualified accounting qualification
  • Experience within medium/large business accounts
  • Excel & ERP to a medium proficiency
  • Strong understanding of key accounting concepts and standards
  • Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions
