Your new role

Your new role is a key senior role in the Finance Team that is part of the central operations team based in Doncaster. The Organisation is looking for an experienced Finance Manager with a strong statutory accounts, financial controls and transactional oversight background.
You will be reporting directly to the Finance Director with a mixture of working from home and in the office, this role will deliver an efficient and effective financial management and accounting service to colleagues across the organisation. The related responsibilities are split between two Finance Manager roles which will take a lead in delivering key elements of this service whilst working closely together to ensure that the overall service is maintained, including during periods of leave.

Key responsibilities include

  • Lead on year end statutory accounts production and co-ordination and delivery of the annual statutory audit.
  • Ensure accounting practices comply with relevant accounting standards and that financial policies and procedures are followed.
  • Balance sheet recs preparation including maintenance and reconciliation of the fixed asset register and the bank.
  • Prepare periodic cash forecast reports, including extracts for inclusion in management accounts.
  • Support the team to ensure that all transactions are correctly processed and recorded, through journal approval and reconciliation.
  • Maintain oversight of internal controls that demonstrate compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Finance Director on recommendations for improvement to the charity's financial performance and controls through a system of reviewing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain oversight of fleet of vehicles, ensuring that the fleet remains fit for purpose for our operational needs at an optimal cost.
  • Lead on insurance, managing the relationship with our insurance broker to ensure that claims are efficiently made and concluded and periodic declarations are made on a timely basis.
  • Prepare the VAT return and advise on VAT issues.
  • Manage users of online banking and payment software and maintain good working relationships with our bankers.
  • Lead the production of documentary evidence and reconciliations to support funding claims made to significant funders.
  • Carry out adhoc duties to support the finance team and wider organisation.

What you'll need to succeed

  • CCAB qualified accountant, or qualified by experience
  • Five years demonstrable experience in equivalent roles
  • Demonstrable up to date UK GAAP knowledge
  • Able to prioritise whilst maintaining the engagement of all stakeholders

Charities SORP experience would be beneficial for the role, however it is not essential.
