Hays Senior Finance are delighted to have been retained by an excellent SME manufacturing business in the Worcestershire area as they look to appoint a Finance Manager on a permanent basis.

Our long-standing client are part of a larger Group who are listed on the London Stock Exchange and a world leader in their field. Due to internal promotion, they are now looking to bring on board a proactive and driven Accountant to join their well-established team.

Your new role
Reporting into an excellent Financial Controller, you will be an integral member of the UK Finance SSC locally and become responsible for the oversight of transactional duties undertaken by the ledger team in addition to carrying out transactional, reporting and business partnering activities of your own.

Main duties:

  • Preparation and submission of consolidated and holding company VAT returns, under MTD
  • Preparation and submission of consolidated Intrastat returns, under MTD
  • Monthly reporting through bespoke consolidation system including actuals, forecasting and budget
  • Review of prepared balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review of bank account reconciliations
  • Accurate input of manual journals into general ledger
  • Support the FC to maintain and improve internal controls, processes and procedures
  • Support the FC to ensure import/export duty and VAT compliance
  • Management of expense policy with oversight, support and review of automated expense system
  • Liaise with internal/external Auditors
  • Supervision of 4 transactional finance staff
  • Support Centre of Excellence and wider business with ad hoc project work

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or QBE
  • Previous experience in a similar role and a good understanding of transactional finance
  • Strong intellect with an ability to rapidly identify key issues and see the bigger picture
  • Self-sufficient and able to work autonomously with little supervision
  • Able to influence people at all levels of the organisation and secure commitment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse team in terms of seniority and function
  • High attention to detail and able to deliver to a high standard within rigid timeframes
  • A methodical and organised approach to tasks
  • Good Excel skills and integrated ERP experience
