Finance Manager to lead the Finance function for this aquired business

Client Details

A leading global manufacturer and service provider of quality assurance and research tools, supporting their customers' analytical needs in more than 120 countries worldwide.


Financial Reporting

² Manage overall finance and accounting processes.

² Deliver monthly Financial Reports for internal purposes and ensure the reporting is compliant with IFRS and group Accounting Policies, and provide upload files to Division for inclusion in consolidated results.

² Oversee day to day financial operation (transaction processing, controls, reporting, budgeting, forecasting) of the business, interacting as required with sites in Germany and USA distributing the company's products.

² Full ownership of cash management and banking processes including payment runs, cash forecasting, maintenance of accounts and relationships with the bank.

² Oversight and ownership of accounting matters including but not limited to revenue recognition for distributor arrangements, accounting for rebate incentives and accounting for manufactured inventory (including cost absorption and obsolescence).

² Interact with Group teams to develop and maintain systems (Sage, IFS, Business Objects, Tableau) for efficient and effective financial control, transaction processing, management reporting and compliance.

² Potential for role to include the preparation of local statutory accounts (not currently subject to audit but may be in future).

Planning and Analysis

² Leading annual budget and quarterly forecasting for full P&L, working capital and CapEx, partnering with the local management team.

² Provide variance analysis and commentary to explain monthly results versus budget, forecast and prior year, partnering with the commercial and operations organization.

² Develop, prepare and review monthly management accounts pack for local management.

Finance Control

² Maintain and develop appropriate accounting processes and internal control systems to ensure integrity of financial statements and protection of company assets.

² Liaison with Group HR and external providers around payroll processing.

² Optimize financial procedures to be fit for purpose for the growing business through a dedication to continuous improvement, leveraging relationships with Divisional and Group Finance and IT teams.

Tax and Insurance

² Prepare and upload VAT returns.

² Liaise with external financial institutions including banks and tax advisors as required and provide information to Group and External tax teams for preparation of Corporation tax computations.

² Prepare annual insurance renewal package.


² Develop plan for local transaction processing and work with Division as required to assess resource requirements.

² Lead co-ordination of work between local team and corporate functions on systems infrastructure improvements including site maintenance, ERP etc.


  • Qualified ACCA/ CIMA/ ACA or qualified by experience.
  • In depth knowledge of accounting principles required.
  • Experience with ERP and MI systems (Sage Financial) preferred. Strong Excel skills and ability to manage data sets required.
  • Skillful in developing and building successful relationships with internal stakeholders to senior management level locally and Divisionally.
  • Strong written and verbal skills in English.
  • Excellent planning skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and levels of complexity.
  • High level of attention to detail, technical and analytical skills, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Manufacturing experience is preferable (ideally 2-3 years in a similar role).

Job Offer

Salary £35,000 - £42,000
