Finance Manager for an small established charity, seeking an individual who will be able to manage and drive the finance department whilst support their planned growth.

Client Details

My client is a registered charity with nearly 50 year's experience within its sector providing treatment and residential support across a number of sites within the UK. They are focused on growing their offering over the next two years.

Description

Provide and monitor budgets, forecasts and reforecasting, cash flow analysis, management and financial accounts and advice and support to inform decision making at all levels

Ensure the Chief Executive is kept clearly appraised of any financial issues that need to be considered

Responsible for all statutory reporting, compliance, annual accounts and VAT including SORP and Charity Commission regulations and requirements

Manage and oversee the annual external audit process

Produce regular cashflow forecasts/statements and other management accounts in accordance with charity policy and management requirements

Maintain an accurate and up to date register of the charity fixed assets

Maintain a watching brief on all project and service budgets providing timely advice and reports to managers to ensure that budgets are adhered to and reporting any significant variations to the CEO

Ensure a clear process is in place for claiming grants, raising of invoices and other income requests to ensure prompt collection of any payments due

Liaise with HMRC on tax matters and Gift Aid

Complete monthly payroll, pension payments and expenses for the organisation and work closely with the outsourced payroll supplier

Ensure that accounting ledgers (project, purchase, expenses, sales) and balance sheet items are fully reconciled monthly and that reconciling items are promptly addressed

To be responsible for ensuring that staff are inducted into the use of the financial accounting system (Xero)

Regularly update and review the financial procedures for the organisation and update staff as required

To be responsible for ensuring that annual returns to the Charity Commission are completed fully, accurately and on time

Ensure that Companies House are notified of any relevant changes within the organisation relating to financial probity and in liaison with the CEO

Management and development of the finance department

Working closely with the organisation's IT partners to ensure effective delivery of the IT strategy for the charity

Oversee the contracts and support with all IT hardware and software suppliers for the organisation

To implement and assist in the development, review and maintenance of IT policies and procedures along with input into the review of the websites

Profile

Qualified Accountant

Financial management and accounting experience within the not for profit sector

High degree of computer literacy, particularly excellent Microsoft Excel skills and use of accounting packages

Experience of delivering, analysing and communicating financial information, including statutory accounts, budgets and management accounts, to non-financial staff

Previous man management experience

Ideally charity SORP
