Robertson Bell is pleased to be exclusively partnering with a Charity, based near Essex to recruit a Finance Director on an initial 6-month fixed term contract with the potential to extend or to go permanent for the right candidate.

This is a really exciting opportunity for someone to work closely with the Chief Executive, to bring the finance department up to date, create a strategy to achieve a balanced budget and establish longer-term financial stability for the organisation.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the financial strategy, improving the financial resilience of the organisation.
  • Work with the CEO on the development of the investment strategy and its implementation.
  • Lead, manage and develop the finance team. Providing them with clear communication, effective delegation and oversight.  
  • Develop and identify opportunities for improvement in business processes and systems.
  • Provide and communicate financial and management information to stakeholders to ensure they understand the organisation's financial position and inform decision making.
  • Engage with a large number of stakeholders on all strategic and operational financial matters.
  • Implement a budget and forecasting process for the next 3-5 years.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a fully qualified accountant with experience of working at the Senior Management level within a Charity.
  • Have experience of managing a team that may be slightly uneased by the changes that the organisation is about to undertake.
  • Be a proven strategic implementor, able to deliver a strategic programme of change and realise business goals.
