Expatriate and Personal Tax Assistant London

Outline of Job Description Duties

  • Responsible for a portfolio of predominantly international assignee's and some UK personal tax clients
  • Preparation of tax estimates and hypothetical tax calculations
  • Preparation of UK tax returns
  • Support Executive Directors and Managers with delivery of advisory work

Details of the role This position provides an exciting role for an ambitious and enthusiastic qualified or part qualified tax professional looking to take more responsibility for an international assignment and UK personal tax portfolio. The successful candidate will require experience in the international assignment and/or personal tax area.

Working within the tax team, the role needs effective communication with other London service teams and externally, including the US tax providers, to ensure an efficient and compliant service. The role provides the opportunity to work directly with the individual clients and their employers with support of the Executive Directors and Expatriate Tax Manager. It will also lead to involvement in all aspects of the client's tax affairs to become their first point of contact and responsible for the compliance cycle and filing deadlines.


  • Approximately 2-3 years' experience working in international assignments and / or personal tax in a professional organisation.
  • Ideally ATT part qualified. Support for ATT/CTA studies, if not already completed, will be provided.
  • Organised and self-motivated individual who is used to taking responsibility for their work and compliance deadlines.

Experience and basic knowledge of the following:

  • UK personal tax including income tax, capital gains tax and National Insurance
  • Compliance cycle including preparation of UK Self Assessment tax returns
  • International assignments:
  • Implications for new arrivals in the UK and departures from the UK - Tax coding and payments on account - Remittance basis and non-domicile rules
  • Working knowledge of US tax preferred but not essential
