Your new company
For the first time in 800 years, Wales is collecting and managing some of its own taxes. This means money raised in Wales will be spent in Wales - on our schools, health and other services.At the Welsh Revenue Authority, we're responsible for collecting and managing the first two devolved Welsh taxes - Land Transaction Tax and Landfill Disposals Tax. And we're passionate about the work we do.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a key role which will contribute to the future strategic direction of the organisation. You will lead and inspire the finance team as well as manage the day-to-day operations of tax collection and accounting. In this role, you will be expected to make high-level decisions, balancing risk and opportunity, to manage the corporate budget and expected tax income of £1 billion over the first four years. You will be required to influence at board level, both internally, as part of the executive committee, and externally with Welsh Government and Ministers. You will see the bigger picture and enjoy creating long term plans, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-finance colleagues. This is a role of transformational change and you'll need to be an exceptionally adaptable individual to deliver the current Corporate Plan whilst also ensuring best value for money. The WRA is a young organisation and therefore still forming; this means the role is overarching and broad in nature.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate for this role will be a senior level qualified accountant with previous experience in a strategically driven leadership role. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels in the organisation. You will relish a challenge and be passionate about shaping the financial future of the organisation.
