Working as part of the regulatory policy and advisory team you will be accountable for the simultaneous delivery of multiple pieces of high quality, timely, relevant and consistent financial and business advice.

Description

Working as part of the regulatory policy team based in central Brighton the Business Analyst (Financial) will be responsible for providing specialist financial analysis and business advice on operational, organisational, strategic and policy matters to internal stakeholders (including case teams, management at all levels, and the Board) to support the achievement of outcomes in line with company objectives.

Your duties will include but are not limited to

  • Providing high quality, consistent, timely and commercial advice on business and financial issues and risks for this Government and Public Sector organisation
  • Contributing to risk assessment and prioritisation of employer and covenant related initiatives and interventions at a strategic, sector and individual level including high profile and high risk regulatory and criminal investigations, emerging industry trends, and evolving pension scheme business structures
  • Active participation in external engagement including leading negotiations at senior levels with trustees, employers, professional advisers and other stakeholders to deliver outcomes in line with objectives
  • Accountable for the simultaneous delivery of multiple pieces of high quality, timely, relevant and consistent financial and business advice demonstrating sound professional judgement across all types of pension scheme

Profile

  • Accounting, banking or corporate finance qualification; or ability to demonstrate significant relevant experience showing strength, breadth and depth of knowledge
  • Comprehensive Business Analyst (financial) expertise and proven ability to consistently and accurately review the strength/ viability of businesses across all sectors and corporate structures
  • Ability to assess and challenge employer's financial forecasts, including the key assumptions on which they are based
  • In depth and current knowledge of corporate transaction approaches and ability to analyse and demonstrate the potential impact of such transactions on a pension scheme and advise on appropriate ways to mitigate resultant detriment
  • Ability to identify the warning signs of an employer in distress. An ability to understand and influence complex restructurings to ensure that member benefits, as well as the PPF's exposure, are protected
  • Thorough knowledge of UK and international accounting practices and financial reporting standards
  • Understanding of solvency II , ICAAP and other regulatory regimes that may impact the financial requirements of master trust legislation and code
  • Knowledge of the emerging DB Pension consolidation market and the ability to commercially challenge the sustainability of the various business models involved
  • Previous experience of working in the Public Sector and Government is ideal, but not essential
