Full Time

We have an excellent opportunity to join our QAD team in a new role, shaping ICAEW’s identification and monitoring of audit risk in its population of audit firms.

As the audit risk officer you will focus on identifying and evaluating the risks involved across the wide range of audits conducted by ICAEW registered audit firms. This will involve a number of approaches:

  1. The development of ICAEW’s strategic and tactical approach to audit risk through research and development.
  2. Conducting monitoring visits to audit registered firms, to investigate and address identified risks, contributing to ICAEW’s risk-based audit monitoring.
  3. Communicating with internal and external stakeholders through a variety of mediums regarding audit quality in a way that educates, provokes thought and ultimately both improves audit quality and further develops the UK audit market.

As the successful candidate you will be a Chartered Accountant operating at Senior Audit Manager or above and be able to demonstrate a wide breadth of statutory audit experience, in terms of size and complexity. You will be well-informed about the current regulatory pressures facing the audit market and be able to successfully use this knowledge to work with a number of different stakeholders, from audit firm partners to our Directors and committees. Technically, you will have a strong understanding of auditing and ethical standards, accounting standards (including IFRS); and in particular a good sense of what constitutes both audit risk and a complex or particularly challenging audit. You will be comfortable managing, manipulating and interrogating data and presenting this both in person and in a compelling written style.
