Job Description

As part of the team, you'll work with a broad and diverse range of clients, providing you with exposure to businesses of varying sizes, industries and complexity. You'll develop specialist Assurance knowledge and play a key role in improving the quality and efficiency of audits and lead innovation in a range of areas, with an initial focus on pensions assets and liabilities, share based payments, and the audit of Tax.

In this role, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of Assurance strategy by driving high quality and timely business implementation, including such elements as:

  • Operating processes, working practices and supporting collateral

  • Marketing new initiative to the business

Driving ongoing delivery and continuous improvement of the activity, including:

  • Leading delivery of the activity from a people, client service, quality and efficiency perspective
  • Overseeing, monitoring and evaluating the quality of work performed by team members - including
    • Driving understanding of and compliance with activity technical and other operational requirements
    • Thematic reviews of internal quality reviews, root cause identification and action plan development
    • Responding to quality review findings and technical updates
    • Performing oversight role on more complex engagements
    • Resolving team member consultations and escalations
  • Implement and maintain ongoing Learning and Development activities, including formal training curriculum by grade, ad hoc learning and sharing, and a formal and effective coaching and mentoring structure
  • Establish and maintain ongoing close relationships with appropriate members of specialist delivery teams and internal experts (e.g. Tax LOS, P&O, valuations), in order to drive high quality delivery and ongoing continuous improvement
  • Drive the ongoing provision of insights to our clients in this area (data capture, benchmarking, reporting mechanisms)
  • Working with the Team Leader to oversee activity supply and demand actuals -v- forecasts, including performance against budgets - taking corrective action as necessary
  • Driving activity through leadership and innovation (what we do and how we do it), including standardisation, automation, outsourcing, methodology enhancements, etc.


Essential skills

  • ACA qualification
  • Strong recent accounting and auditing knowledge / skills
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, at all levels
  • The ability to think creatively and innovate with new solutions
  • Excellent organisational / project management skills
  • Pro-active and self-motivated
  • Strong attention to detail
