Job Description
Ensure compliance with GAAP and provide practical guidance on regulatory matters. Responsible for your own portfolio of clients and share responsibility for the management, training and development of the audit team.
Client Details
Their clients are primarily business owners and managers. They provide accounting, tax and advisory services to small, growing businesses, established companies and UK subsidiaries of international groups. They also work with a number of charities, academies and other not-for-profit organisations.
Their services include audit, taxation and outsourced accounting. They also provide an extensive range of advisory services including HR advice, business recovery, corporate finance and insolvency.
Description
Client Service
- Take the lead on dealing with large, technically complex clients
- Providing advice to owner managers on both business and personal matters and thereby act as a trusted business adviser to our clients
- Oversee all aspects of client engagement assuming overall responsibility for allocating work and ensuring client service is maintained at a high level
- Manage the end to end audit process, including budgets and timescales and being RI
- Analyse complex business situations to identify key issues and priorities
- Demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of IFRS/UKGAAP
- Regular review of client WIP and debtor
Staff Management
- Responsible for day-to-day staff planning, ensuring the right level of technically qualified staff are booked on to client work for the appropriate amount of time. Set and agree the level of decision making with members of the team
- Carry out review work on accounts and other assignments prepared by Managers and team members
- Assist with setting targets and objectives for junior staff, as well as on the job training and coaching. Completing job appraisals for staff, assisting in identifying development needs and opportunities
- Take responsibility for technical matters and resolve any problems which may arise
- Assisting the managers with providing feedback to team members as well as assistance with conducting appraisals
- Arrange debriefing sessions after each assignment and provide feedback on performance and budget with an explanation of any variance
- To conduct mid-year and annual appraisals
- Approval of staff annual leave and training requests
Business Development
- Driving revenue growth across existing and new service offerings
- Demonstrate broad business thinking and sound commercial judgement to add value for our clients
- Prepare and deliver proposals for new work
Office Responsibilities
- Contribute and implement ideas for staff motivation and development across the office.
- Planning and executing the longer term strategy of the department and office along with the Partners
- To be involved in the recruitment process of new staff - within the office
Profile
- Qualified at either ACA/ACCA
- Experience of auditing clients within a variety of industries
- Significant senior level experience and the ability to manage a large portfolio of clients, whilst leading a team
- A genuine interest in our clients with an ability to confidently discuss business challenges and needs
- You will contribute as part of a senior management team that is growing our business into new markets and service areas
- Solid experience in practice, 50% of which should be relevant audit experience, ideally with FS or public sector experience
- The ability to communicate confidently and effectively with colleagues and clients at all levels
- Team worker and strong people management skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Keen to add value to our clients' businesses
- To demonstrate the ability to make decisions, solve problems and take appropriate action
- Demonstrates a clear knowledge and understanding of performance standards, quality control procedures and office procedures
- Ability to deal confidently and positively with poor and under performance issues
- Ability to adapt leadership style for different team members
- Ability to identify high calibre candidates and to be competent at interviewing staff - within the office
