Job Description
Overview:As a Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for managing a small portfolio of clients and for the timely delivery of services. You will also support Directors and Partners with complex investigation enquiries to ensure a satisfactory settlement is negotiated between the client and HMRC.
Responsibilities:
o Manage the everyday running of discrete aspects of more complex investigations on behalf of Senior Managers.
o Prepare investigation reports, including all computational aspects of the report, for submission to the HMRC Tax Dispute Resolution Services.
o Carry out work independently as well as delegating and explaining the nature of investigation work to more junior staff within the team (Each job will normally require a report to be prepared and submitted to the Inland Revenue. This will include having the report agreed by the partner and client beforehand).
o Liaise directly with clients, contacts and other parties to ensure work is done and produced according to the desired timescales.
o Prepare work plans and liaise with the partner/director to ensure that the investigation report covers all areas included in the work plan.
o Take part in negotiation of the settlement either directly or by providing the partner or director with an aide memoir in relation to the details of the case and the specific technical arguments that are likely to arise.
o Manage the billing and collection in respect of each client in your portfolio.
o Identify and report new business and marketing opportunities with existing and new clients for the Tax Investigations team to Managers and Partners.
o Attend team meetings and represent Tax Investigations at department and firm meetings as required.
o Supervise, coach and develop more junior members of the team.
o Start to develop a network of professional and business contacts.
o Participate in sales, marketing and networking activities and campaigns.
Requirements:
o CTA/ACA/ACCA qualification (or overseas equivalent), or relevant experience.
o Experience of tax enquiries, investigations and voluntary disclosures is preferred but not essential
