Financial Progression is a rapidly growing boutique consultancy specialising in helping household name brands understand the extent to which their marketing services agencies (media, creative, PR, events etc.) are operating in accordance with their contracts and financial best practice. Operating globally from the UK, we are experiencing increasing demand for our services from clients in financial services, sports, technology, fmcg, utilities, retail and the public sector. Our rigorous, flexible, professional and insightful approach has enabled us to attract a wide range of global, regional and national advertisers as clients. Belying our size, we are one of the most highly respected firms in our field in the world, one of the two most widely recognised in Europe, according to the World Federation of Advertisers in 2019, and a preferred partner of the Incorporated Society of British Advertisers. In 2021, we are working closely with the UK’s largest advertiser, whose annual marketing budget exceeds £500m, under a multi-year agreement.
Our clients (advertisers) see us as trusted advisors who help them ensure that their marketing budgets are spent exactly as intended. You will have immediate exposure to senior managers and directors in marketing, procurement and finance, and at their agencies, typically account and finance directors. Our class-leading training programme will enable you to understand how agencies work from a commercial, contractual and financial perspective, equipping you to assess what is good practice and what is not, both commercially and ethically. You will advise our clients on how to make the financial side of their agency relationships more efficient and effective by enhancing the operation of their marketing finance processes, agency contracts and risk management practices.
Reporting into the Global Audit Manager, who is a nationally recognised expert in the field, you will be expected to lead client engagements on a day-to-day basis, plan and undertake the necessary work and draft audit reports for review. You do not need to have any previous experience in the advertising or media industry – we will provide you with comprehensive training with the aim that you will be a nationally recognised expert in the field yourself within five years. By that time, you will be equipped to take on an influential role in our business or move into an advertising and media agency in a similar position (e.g. Financial Controller), having had a more rigorous training than the agencies can provide themselves.
You will possess an enquiring yet logical mind, tenacity, resilience, the ability to adapt to changing requirements, a sound technical background, rock-solid integrity and, perhaps unusually for an accountant, excellent interpersonal and listening skills. In addition, you will have a deep rooted desire to continually develop your knowledge of the advertising and media industry and be confident in taking on responsibility.

You must be a newly qualified Chartered Accountant, ideally with prior audit experience, excited at the prospect of spending up to 5 consecutive working days a month in London or another major European city (once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted), able to attend quarterly team meetings in the Thames Valley and live within 90 minutes of an international airport.
Reporting directly to the Global Audit Manager, the role is a full time, permanent position for an individual who is looking to take a major step forward in their professional and commercial development. Unlike other audit roles, it is an opportunity to work with exciting and forward thinking clients, who are at the heart of consumer marketing, and their agencies. What we do bears little resemblance to what you will have experienced when conducting statutory audits – “It’s audit Jim, but not as we know it”.
Remuneration: Competitive annual salary, benefits and bonus dependant on experience.
