Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Delighting clients and internal stakeholders
- Delivering outstanding customer service
- Responding to client, manager and director concerns promptly in an effective and professional manner with minimal input from Manager/Director
- Taking pride in the quality and delivery of client work
Helping develop the BW Tax business
- Support Manager/Director in existing client relationships and play a key role in maintaining these relationships
- To proactively identify added value items for the client and highlight to Manager/Director as appropriate
- Seeking new business opportunities and referring these to Manager/Director
Delivering all the services you would expect from a part/newly qualified Accountant
Client relationship
- At the direction of the Manager/Director, to oversee a small number of clients including managing work flow, preparation, review and meeting statutory deadlines
- To advise clients on basic accounting and tax matters
Service delivery
- To efficiently prepare the following to a good standard ready for Manager/Director review:
- Statutory year end accounts and personal/corporation tax returns
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns using Xero
- To efficiently plan jobs for preparation for self or trainees/technicians
- To deal with client requests relating to HMRC, PAYE and VAT matters with minimal input from Manager
- Oversee the maintenance of bookkeeping records for clients using Xero including assistance with day to day queries, any significant issues, software matters etc
Team relationship
- To proactively provide appropriate training and supervision to trainees/technicians
- To assist Manager and Director on adhoc tasks related to clients and the business
TECHNICAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- ACA/ACCA/CTA Newly/Part-qualified, or suitably demonstrated qualification by experience may be considered, where appropriate.
- Experience in preparing accounts for unincorporated/incorporated businesses
- Experience of training and supervision of more junior team members
- Ability to use/learn software and systems operated in the business as appropriate
- Attend courses (internal and external) to aid you on the capacity to fulfil your role
- Good knowledge of corporation tax, income tax and VAT and the impact on accounts and client’s overall affairs
- iXBRL tagging, reviewing and submitting to HMRC of relevant documentation
- Good knowledge of the statutory and technical aspects concerning a set of limited company accounts
- Good knowledge of main accounting systems in the market place (eg Xero, Quickbooks. Sage etc) in order to assist and advise clients accordingly
- Ability to work to deadlines and to be flexible as regards the hours and assignments worked
- Ability to prioritise own workload
- Able to oversee a small number of clients and be responsible for the day to day management of their affairs on behalf of the designated Manager
- Ability to communicate openly and build up excellent relationships with clients
- To prepare budgets for assignments at planning stage and update for actual, with explanations of variances arising
