Mazars’ specialist Accounting Technical Services team provides accounting technical support and advice, both internally to our members of staff and externally to our clients. The team are renowned for their practical approach when facing complex technical accounting issues.

The Accounting Technical Services team mainly supports audit and assurance work by providing assistance to Mazars’ staff nationally on a number of diverse areas. The team provides financial reporting support to Mazars audit teams and clients in all strategic markets and sectors, across a number of accounting frameworks, although principally IFRS and UK GAAP.

In addition, the Accounting Technical Services team provides financial reporting advisory services to non-audit clients covering a wide range of specialist areas such as: technical accounting advisory - GAAP conversions, technical opinions, accounts preparation, including IPO flotation support, and consolidation support and training.

JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to support the Accounting Technical Services team in providing technical accounting support to our national audit team.

This role will strengthen the existing accounting technical services function at Mazars and will increase our capacity to provide more in-depth assistance to individual clients and our audit practice as a whole.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Accounting Technical Services Manager will be part of a team that collaborates well to successfully support our colleagues and clients and will be responsible for:

• Focusing primarily on providing technical accounting support to our audit teams across the UK which includes:

o Addressing accounting and financial reporting technical queries;

o Reviewing financial statements for compliance with IFRS and FRS 102;

o Providing tailored support to key audit clients;

o Assisting with audit proposals;

o Being involved in Mazars Audit Quality monitoring process from a financial reporting perspective; and

o Assisting with the preparation of internal and external technical publications.

• Supporting the Accounting Technical Services team on other accounting technical matters. 

 

THE PERSON

You will have a sound technical understanding from completing your ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) accounting qualification and have robust technical accounting knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP/FRS 102 and UK Company Law.

The successful applicant will have experience of working at an Assistant Manager level or above in a professional services firm within a similar financial reporting role.

We are looking for someone who also has:

• Experience with evaluating technical issues, analysing facts, consulting and delivering solutions to clients;

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially writing formal reasoned technical responses;

• Experience of writing technical publications will be beneficial;

• The ability to prioritise and organise work, with strong attention to detail;

• Works well with others in the team, maintaining high standards of quality and demonstrating commitment to self-development; and

• Experience of working with industry and services clients.
