An exciting role for someone looking for the next step in their accounting career with a move to partnership.

Who you would be joining

MBC accountants is a progressive firm of Chartered Accountants based in Okehampton (Mid Devon).  It was founded in 2002 by the current Director, Fiona Rook and leads the way in using technology to create efficiencies.  They specialise in providing great service to predominantly small-business clients with turnovers ranging from £100k to £3m.

The practice offers a comprehensive boutique service to its clients, providing bespoke services to match the needs of clients along with the standard set of compliance, payroll, book-keeping and VAT etc. They are effectively a finance department for smaller businesses.

Due to succession planning they are looking to appoint a Chartered Accountant (ACA / ACCA) to join the firm as a Partner Designate with the aim of progressing to partnership in the short to medium term.

The role

The first 12 months will focus on learning the ways of working of MBC.  The practice uses an industry style approach with streamlined processes, tight deadlines and 100% focus on client service.  Your portfolio would consist of a range of clients covering the full spectrum that MBC deals with to ensure a full comprehension across all areas. 

After 12 months an equity partnership position will be offered for the right applicant.

The qualities you should bring

This position will be perfect for someone who still enjoys a hands on approach, both doing and reviewing work, meeting and working alongside clients and an ability to fully understand their business.

You should already be managing your own portfolio and be comfortable managing staff, with a thirst to help drive a business forward.

The package on offer

The salary on offer ranges from £38,000 to £45,000 with the potential of profit share after the first year.  Benefits include 28 days holiday a year, pension, and no overtime expected apart from the normal January spike.
