Client Details
Leading Croydon based engineering company seeking an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or newly qualified accountant
Description
The UK Accountant is a new role reporting to the UK Controller. The role will support the UK Controller with various regular and ad-hoc accounting duties and in helping to improve on an ongoing basis the level of internal control, procedures and processes within the business. It is envisaged that the role will evolve over time as it becomes more structured and defined.
Amongst other duties, the main responsibilities of the job are to:
Assist the UK Controller with various project and initiatives to improve overall reporting and internal control environment for the company
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for accounts of the company
Prepare and submit Intercompany recharges for other group entities
Perform reconciliation of intercompany balances and activity monthly and investigate differences as appropriate
Prepare and selection of Intercompany invoices for payment
Perform cost rolls and checking of new standard costs part in JD Edwards (JDE) for the company
Identify costing errors; working with engineering department to make corrections
Create missing standard costs for new purchase parts
Perform month end close duties as assigned, journals, assisting with accruals and prepayments etc.
Assist the UK Controller with annual external audit process and any related queries either from divisional or group Head Office
Prepare and review monthly European Community sales returns (for value added tax (VAT) purposes)
Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns
Be the interface between accounts payable and purchasing assisting with resolving open purchased receipts
Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the below qualifications and experience:
BA or BSc in Accounting and/or Finance
Qualified / Newly Qualified Accountant
Previous experience in accounting, finance and/or public accounting preferably in practice
Prior experience with JD Edwards (JDE) business systems
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint)
Cognos or other financial reporting package experience
In addition, candidates will possess:
A high standard of accuracy with excellent written and spoken communication skills
Excellent computer and IT skills including; Word, Excel, Adobe and experience of using spreadsheets and databases.
The ability to multi-task responsibilities simultaneously and work autonomously
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy skills
A self-motivated attitude, be driven, flexible and able to complete assigned tasks; results driven
A Team player attitude with the ability to work independently.
