A unique and exciting opportunity to lead a well-regarded, friendly and ambitious firm of Chartered Accountants in Bournemouth. 

This new role of Practice Director will be instrumental in driving the firm forwards both with internal development initiatives and growth through acquisition.

This role will suit a qualified Chartered Accountant focussed on client delivery and with an entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Established 15yrs, including High Net Worths
  • Loyal team of 3 plus retiring full time Director, plus part time owner-Director (FCA).

Role and Accountabilities.

The Practice Director, a varied and versatile role, will:

  • Lead, coach and mentor the team of 3 staff
  • Act as principal of the firm in all client relationships, ensuring quality, accuracy and client service
  • Grow the client base through new marketing, branding and outreach initiatives
  • Improve internal processes to streamline and digitise the practice
  • Assist the current owner-Director (part time, ex-EY, FCA) with
    • Optimising the profitability of the business
    • ICAEW practice assurance and standards
    • the strategic objective of growth through acquisition of other local practices
    • growing fee income from £150k to £500k organically and acquisitively in three years


Person Specification.

  • ACA qualified
  • Public practice experience, ideally small or medium sized firm, min 5yrs
  • Proven experience of motivating and managing a loyal team
  • Professionalism and gravitas, being the leading face of the firm
  • Entrepreneurial and ambitious
  • Committed and accountable
  • Embraces change and continuous improvement


  • Full time though ¾ part time will be considered
  • Role can be built around other commitments (eg school times and holidays)
  • Basic salary, subject to experience and business performance
  • Quarterly bonus scheme based on profitability of the firm
  • Up to 20% equity accrued over a two-year period, sharing in dividend income and the capital exit of the business
