Hays Senior Finance are partnering with a high-growth international technology business based in Gloucester. We're on the lookout for a meticulous and driven Accountant to join their team. In this role you'll play a pivotal part in supporting our European Legal Entities, collaborating closely with the Accounting team to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient accounting operations.
From assisting with month-end closes and preparing detailed journals to crafting financial statements, tax returns, VAT submissions, and ad hoc reports, your expertise will be instrumental in keeping our operations running smoothly. Day to day responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Perform assigned general accounting functions (i.e., bank reconciliations, maintaining general ledger systems, workpaper preparation, etc.) in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring adherence to department policies and procedures.
- Prepare and enter month end journal entries including bank entries, payroll, accruals, prepayments, taxation, transfer Pricing and assist in month-end closing.
- Prepare accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations for the assigned entities.
- Preparation of Financial Statements for a number of European entities and liaison with external auditors as required.
- Assisting with Corporation tax payments and reporting, working with external advisors.
- Preparation of VAT returns for assigned entities.
- Know and support approved accounting and departmental policies and procedures, including keeping up to date on internal controls concerning accounting functions and appropriate GAAP.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested, ensuring all reports are completed accurately and according to designated timelines.
- Prepare accounting records and schedules appropriate for internal and external auditors and identify any discrepancies.
What you should bring:
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified
- Minimum of 2-3 years suitable relevant experience.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel including pivot tables and v-lookups.
- Suitable experience working in a finance environment.
- Experience of preparing statutory accounts.
- Practical working knowledge of UK GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software and other financial management tools (e.g., ERP systems) - preferably Oracle.
- Intermediate knowledge of Word and PowerPoint is required.
- Other languages would be advantageous (French / German).
- A flexible and positive attitude to work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organised and able to handle multiple demands and reporting deadlines simultaneously.
- Quick starter, keen to learn and develop, and take responsibility.
- The ability to work autonomously and effectively as a team.
