Job Details

You just can’t quite put your finger on it.

Maybe you’re ready to step up from your current role, take on more complex work, or expand your client portfolio. Maybe you’re looking for a firm where you feel valued, trusted, and challenged—without the stress of unrealistic workloads or endless overtime.

Not to brag, but we think we’ve got the perfect balance. At Goodman Jones LLP, you’ll take ownership of your work, develop your technical expertise, and work directly with clients—all while being part of a supportive team in our brand-new, loft-style Fitzrovia office.

And the reason we’re hiring? Our wonderful Emma (who you’d be replacing) has decided to scratch a travelling itch. She’s been an incredible part of the team, and when reflecting on her time with us, she shared:

"I moved to Goodman Jones LLP for more challenging work and to take on more responsibility. I got that, and I’ve really enjoyed working with brilliant people and supporting the development of junior team members."

That’s what this role is all about—taking on responsibility, feeling valued, and growing your career in a collaborative environment.

What Does the Role Look Like?

  • 80% Accounts, 20% Corporate Tax – Preparing financial statements, VAT returns, management accounts, and tax computations.
  • Taking responsibility – Managing a small portfolio of approximately 25 non-audit clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Supporting & reviewing – Reviewing work prepared by junior team members, providing guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Client interaction – Acting as a key contact for clients, responding to queries, and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
  • Keeping standards high – Ensuring all work meets UK GAAP, IFRS, and FRS 102 requirements.
  • Using the latest technology – Working with CCH, Xero, QuickBooks, Caseware, and MS Dynamics to streamline processes.
  • Developing your technical skills – Gaining experience in large entity accounts and consolidated accounts, working alongside our audit team.

Why Choose Goodman Jones LLP?

We’re a 13-partner, top-tier firm in Fitzrovia, London, working with a diverse range of clients, from owner-managed businesses to charities and international subsidiaries. We’ve been around since 1934, but we’re always evolving—whether that’s through adopting new technology, developing our people, or (most recently) moving into a brand-new, modern office designed for collaboration and growth.

Many of our Partners started here as Seniors, Supervisors, or Managers—so if you’re ambitious, you’ll have plenty of room to grow. Feel free to check out our social media channels, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, for more info on this.

Additional Information - Here’s some key info to know from the start:

  • Salary: £50-54,000 per annum (full-time)
  • Hours: 35 hours per week (full-time)
  • Location: Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home)
  • Annual Leave: 33 Days Application
  • Process: Please submit your CV. We respond to all applicants.
  • Interview Process: Two-stage, one with a video call via MS Teams and another in-person at our office.
  • Full Role Description: Available upon request.

About You

Since you’re likely working in a similar role (Senior, Supervisor etc.) in practice, you probably already have the skills and experience needed to transition seamlessly into this role. For clarity, we’re looking for individuals who are:

  • Qualified: ACA or ACCA qualified, with experience of preparing statutory accounts for multiple businesses.
  • Experienced: Strong technical skills in statutory accounts preparation, with a solid understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS102 (if you have experience of group/consolidated accounts we might do a happy dance this end)
  • Comfortable Supporting Others: Proven experience of reviewing work and mentoring junior team members.
  • Excellent communicators: Not just the ability to delegate work to juniors, but to deliver feedback to Managers on job statuses, and draft professional emails. We also need you to be a good listener—whether it’s client concerns or information from Managers, Directors, and Partners.
  • IT confident: In a world of automation, you’re likely comfortable working with various systems, including Excel. You’d be using practice systems including CCH, CaseWare, Datasnipper, Float etc. as well as client systems ranging from Xero and Sage to Cashbook.
  • Client-focused: Strong ability to build and maintain client relationships (both in person and via MS Teams!).
  • Professional: You uphold strong ethical standards and integrity in all your professional interactions.
  • Ambitious: Many of our Partners started their journey here as Supervisors/Seniors, and we actively promote from within.

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. We believe that diverse teams bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and drive excellence. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, experiences, and identities, including those from underrepresented groups.

If you share our values and want to be part of a collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking firm, we encourage you to apply.

Everyone who applies will receive a response.

Note for Agencies: While we appreciate the valuable work you do, this recruitment process is being managed by Michelle Paoloni, our External Talent Partner. We are not engaging agencies for this role, so please refrain from sending speculative CVs to anyone at Goodman Jones LLP, as these may be pursued without a fee obligation.
