A government organisation based in Canary Wharf are seeking an Indirect Tax Specialist to join their team for a 12-month FTC.
Your new role
The Indirect Tax Specialist role is responsible for providing advice to and on steps necessary to comply with HM Treasury contracted-out Services (COS) tax rules and IR35, including advice on their accounting implications. The role also has responsibility for supporting the Agency's financial control framework.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage the production of the quarterly VAT return and ensure maximum possible value of VAT is recovered
- Deliver high quality, timely, evidence-based tax advice to Senior leaders and other colleagues on all taxation related matters as the Agency's source of expertise
- Review commercial contracts proposed and/or entered into and provide advice on IR35 and the VAT recovery position and therefore true financial impact.
- The role holder will also be responsible for monitoring issues related to IR35, this may include reformation of the process, giving final decisions on CEST determinations and also reviewing and/ or producing new guidance.
- Use expertise to coordinate and lead projects and training on taxation rules and compliance, including VAT and IR35.
What you'll need to succeed (essentials)
You must have:
- CCAB, CIMA, ATT, CTA or equivalent qualification
- Significant experience of Public Sector VAT and HMRC Compliance
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of contracted-out Services (COS) VAT rules and other Government specific VAT legislation
- Detailed knowledge of IR35 regulation
