Chair
HM Treasury is seeking a new Chair of the Financial Reporting Advisory Board (FRAB) as the current Chair’s term comes to an end. The Board plays a key role in developing public sector financial reporting guidance, to help improve the quality of public sector reporting and increase accountability. The Board advises UK public sector accounting standard setters on matters related to financial reporting. Created in 1996, the Board plays a valuable independent role in the accounting standard setting process.
The Chair performs an important leadership role on the Board and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualities:
- Proven track record of chairing or strong leadership capability at a senior level.
- Strong professional grounding within the accounting and finance profession.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to represent the FRAB effectively with a wide range of public and private stakeholders.
- Strong intellectual qualities with an ability to set the FRAB strategic direction.
- An understanding of public finance and reporting and the role of the FRAB as an advisory body to government.
Board meetings are held three times per year, in March, June and November with occasional additional meetings as needed. This is an unremunerated post (although reasonable travel expenses will be met).
For more information on the role or the application process, please contact: FRABSecretariat@hmtreasury.gov.uk
