About the roleOur Deals Tax team works closely with our Deals practice to advise on the tax implications of all aspects of transactions including; Mergers & Acquisition, Business Recovery Services and Real Estate. The role sits within the Private Equity Portfolio (PE Portfolio) Tax team,one of the most successful teams within PwC's Deals Tax network. Our PE Portfolio team advises Private Equity backed businesses, working collaboratively across specialisms to drive value and help our clients succeed at all stages of the deal lifecycle.The team operates on a national basis so that no matter where individuals are located, we bring the best experts to our clients and the broadest range of opportunities to our people. You'll work on complex and challenging projects and gain experience working with prestigious and diverse clients - from high profile multinational organisations and private equity firms to start-ups and owner-managed businesses.The role would suit a candidate with a strong UK corporate tax background, a good awareness of other taxes, as well as experience of managing client accounts. Experience of transaction work and/or the Private Equity market is desirable, but not essential, as full training and support would be provided.
Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • You will be responsible for managing members of a growing team and providing tax advisory services to a range of PE portfolio company clients.
  • Manage and deliver bespoke tax advice in relation to the PE portfolio company and the transactions it is involved with. The work is wide-ranging including international tax and supporting our clients throughout the deal cycle.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and junior members of the team. In particular, working closely with clients to provide them with proactive innovative and commercial tax services.
  • Seek specialist input from other parts of tax and wider network - in particular transaction services and non-UK teams.
  • Be proactive in seeking business development opportunities helping to identify and progress opportunities with new/existing clients.
  • Use technical knowledge and experience to help develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges for our clients.
  • Take responsibility for developing your own and the team's technical and business acumen; keeping up to date with business and economic issues, industry insights and sharing your experience and technical knowledge as part of a team to solve important problems.

The skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Must possess a Chartered Accountant (ACCA, ICAEW, ICAS) or Chartered Tax Advisor (ATT, CTA) or international equivalent qualification
  • Strong UK corporate tax skills and experience, with good awareness of other taxes (VAT, employment taxes, management taxes, etc.).
  • Some transaction experience is desirable, but not essential, with full training and support provided.
  • Flexible approach to work as part of multiple client and transaction teams simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of building internal and external relationships and networks.
  • Developed communication skills for negotiating and influencing others.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and report writing skills, with experience in project managing and delegating work within a team.
  • Focus on self-development and the development of others, with the ability to apply tax technical knowledge and insights in a commercial environment.
