We are seeking a highly motivated Tax Manager to join our dynamic Finance team based in Cheltenham. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and enthusiastic candidate to join a fast-growing renewable energy business recently backed by a large institutional manager as it heads into its next phase of strong growth.


About the role


This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide advice on UK and international tax issues whilst also ensuring compliance processes are managed effectively. The Tax Manager is responsible for tax planning, providing business advisory services, tax compliance and reporting as well as risk and governance across the group.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare, implement and monitor the group tax strategy
  • Identify and implement tax optimisation opportunities
  • Identify and mitigate tax risk - Provide innovative tax planning and reviewing complex income tax planning arrangements
  • Tax compliance management, monitoring and reporting
  • Accurate and timely preparation and filing of all direct and indirect tax returns
  • Preparation of tax accounting calculations, journals and tax notes for statutory accounts
  • Responsible for tax payments
  • Preparation of tax budgets and forecasts
  • Review and support employment related taxes calculations and submissions
  • Manage external and internal tax inquiries
  • Conduct research on complex tax issues
  • Documentation and quantification the group / company's tax positions as required
  • Manage and liaise with third party professionals including solicitors, accountants, tax advisers and independent financial advisers
  • Stay updated with changes to tax legislation and emerging tax laws as well as optimum tax planning and saving provisions
  • Improve systems, processes and automation
  • Prepare training materials
  • Establish strong relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure tax matters are managed and compliance requirements understood
  • Prepare and manage transfer pricing and service level agreements
  • Tax support on the M&A transactions
  • Supporting ad hoc projects.


About you

  • Professional tax qualifications (ATT/ CTA) required
  • In-depth knowledge of UK tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles
  • Experience in working in a corporate tax role in industry or preferably practice
  • A technically sound accountant, able to work in a complex & global environment
  • Prior experience within complex, fast-paced, lean business
  • Excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and all types of tax returns
  • Good at meeting deadlines and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work with highly skilled and supportive colleagues and highly commercial senior leaders
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing complex tax projects
  • Strong stakeholder management and influential skills
  • Ability to examine and question information from a variety of sources
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines on multiple projects.
