Hays Accountancy and Finance are recruiting and working in partnership with a large public sector organisation for the appointment of a Staff Officer Accountant offering a competitive market leading salary and public benefits. This role will act as an integral member of the finance team, you will be working across a range of finance functions and services including;
Your new role
The SO Accountant will support the Finance Manager; duties and responsibilities include:Management of the financial processing function; preparation of the monthly management accounts and monthly control accounts/reconciliations including VAT returns; assisting with the in-year and year-end accounts; assisting with in-year budget management and monitoring, monthly budget profiling, variance analysis and reporting; maintenance of staff budget; asset management; analysis of financial data; financial support to business case development; assist with FOIs and Assembly Questions; dealing with internal and external auditors and ad hoc projects.
What you'll need to succeed
The applicant must be a current full member of one of the professional bodies detailed below with a minimum of 1 year's practical experience:
- The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;
- The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;
- The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
- The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;
- The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy;
- The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.
- Chartered Accountants Ireland;
Excellent skills are also required for this post.
