ICAEW's Trust and Ethics team covers our policy work and related guidance and resources on ICAEW's Code of Ethics, Economic Crime and Business Law

Overall purpose of this role of Director, Ethics

The purpose of this leadership role is to direct ICAEW's thought leadership and policy work on our Strategic Theme of strengthening trust in ICAEW's Chartered Accountants and the wider profession.

Director, Ethics Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct responsibility for content relating to ICAEW's policy positions, thought leadership and practical guidance on matters relating to ethics, fraud, economic crime, business law and anti-money laundering.
  • Lead on the delivery of pre-agreed workplans and events for 2024 across the respective areas of the Trust & Ethics team.
  • Lead a high quality workstream on issues relating to trust in business and the profession such as fraud, ethical considerations, economic crime, anti-money laundering in order to help ICAEW deliver its strategic theme of strengthening trust in the profession.
  • Build and nurture excellent stakeholder relations, both within and outside of ICAEW, to ensure that our influence on matters relating to trust in business and the profession is extended.
  • Establish a high media profile, through relevant and impactful content and professional media and stakeholder engagement, to enhance ICAEW's reputation on matters relating to trust, fraud and economic crime.

Director, Ethics Candidate Requirements include:

  • Chartered Accountant, Lawyer or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience of dealing with matters relating to trust in business and / or the accountancy profession, fraud and economic crime at a suitably high level.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrable project management skills, with the ability to devise, develop, direct and deliver high quality content, thought leadership and policy work which advances discussion, debate and provides strong tangible improvements on trust in the profession and wider business.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Professional and engaging media performer, with the ability to advance ICAEW's reputation and profile through pro-active participation in print, social media and broadcasting opportunities.
