Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering exclusively with a family-run and successful farming business to recruit a dynamic and hands-on Management Accountant based in Ledbury, Herefordshire. Reporting directly to the Financial Director, you will lead a small accounting team, which plays a pivotal role in the financial success of the business. You will support in a varied finance role with focus on the upkeep of financial information, timely reporting and be involved in process improvement projects. A great opportunity to really add value to a successful and well-established agricultural business. The role is open to both candidates from industry or practice, part-qualified/qualified or qualified by experience.

Your new role

Your key duties will involve supporting the Financial Director with the preparation of monthly P&L reporting for the budget, management account preparation, financial analysis, monthly reconciliations of balance sheets, monthly VAT returns, expenditure analysis along with maintenance of the fixed asset register. You will support the management of a small finance team with oversight of purchase and sales ledger processes, overview of weekly/monthly payroll processes, along with bank reconciliations, credit card/petty cash management and monthly spend reporting for various managers. You will support the Financial Director and Senior Management team in ad-hoc duties, process improvement projects and business partnering with others both internally/externally.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this permanent Management Accountant role, you will need experience within a similar position, a hands-on team member who is proactive, results-driven, and able to manage workloads to challenging deadlines. You will be part-qualified/qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience, with strong MS excel skills, and trained in a range of financial systems. You will have strong communication skills to liaise with various internal and external stakeholders at all levels, willing to learn, and adaptable to business needs. You ideally have some experience coaching or developing other team members, or a desire to support a small and close-knit finance team. Experience with Xero financial systems, working within an SME, and experience within the agricultural/farming sectors would be advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return

This hands-on and newly created Management Accountant role offers a permanent salary between £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependable on experience based in Ledbury, Herefordshire.
