Your new role
As Systems Accountant, you will be responsible for the finance systems related issues. You will work closely with IT, external vendors and specialist consultants. The key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to those outlined below. Key responsibilities 1. Systems Ownership & Development 1.1. You will be the business owner of the PMS, and related finance systems, and you will be required to maintain strong relationships with suppliers. 1.2. Monitor external systems development road maps and recommend upgrade adoption and integration prioritisation. 1.3. Responsible for identifying the application of PMS system changes to enhance business functionality. 1.4. Responsible for managing PMS and related finance systems upgrade projects. 1.5. Responsible for managing all upgrade test procedures and coordination of relevant resource. 1.6. Responsible for producing and maintaining a full suite of test plan documentation. 1.7. Assist with PMS customisations as required (working closely with IT). 2. Operational System Performance, Reporting & Support 2.1. Responsible for the management of period end routines including year-end. 2.2. Responsible for balancing routines to ensure system integrity such as control account / sub-ledger, trial balance etc. 2.3. Ensure integrity of data used for management reporting (both source systems and reporting warehouses). 2.4. Support firm's accounting and reporting procedures and produce various regular and ad hoc data extractions / reports to supplement these processes. 2.5. Provision of second line support and troubleshooting / fixing systems related issues. 2.6. First line support for fee earners regarding personal and matter data queries. 2.7. First line support for all fee rate and rate table queries for both within finance and the wider firm to include resolution of issues. 2.8. Working with relevant business process owners to coordinate resolutions for any user issues.
What you'll need to succeed
Qualified Accountant with experience of system controls implementation and process documentation. • Experience in SQL Server Reporting Services, Qlik Sense and other reporting systems would be beneficial. • Experience of delivering finance process automation workflows to a multi-site business would be beneficial. • Good project and change management delivery experience and skills. • Inquisitive, analytical and a natural problem solver. • Excellent communication skills in order to speak with people at all levels. • Good team player and influencing and stakeholder management skills. • Strong understanding of database functionality and advanced SQL skills. • Advanced MS Excel user. • Experience of using macros and VB scripting would be beneficial. • Significant experience of financial business processes. • Good attention to detail and understanding of the commercial bigger picture
